| . The former prior of Caer Darrow stoops down to pick up the over turned stool. His wizened features highlighted by the morning light streaming in through the chapel window. As he sits his mind's eye drifts off to another time, is he dreaming of the past or is he indeed seeing those things yet to come as it is rumoured his mother use to, whom some saw as powerful seer. With the fact the undead cannot remember the time before the scourge it is hard to say which it is but time will surely confirm his dreams or visions which ever they may be.
His vision of flames engulfing the village flicker before him, in his ears the sounds of screams and the sobbing of mothers echo, he seems to recognised the burning buildings as the flames leap and dance around there walls but he just can not yet place it. He has a strange feeling that as he is the unseen watcher to those suffering in the village that there is also another, more sinister present also watching, someone who is not concerned with the fate of the inhabitants. Someone who’s present is focused through a powerful and ancient object. That object he does recognise, there could be no mistaking a weapon of such power…….
Bang…. the loud metallic click of the chapel door as it open, dissolving the vision back in to reality. Another mercenary of the Horde entered the room and approaches the priest.
“Greetings Gauan”
“Welcome brother, thank you for coming.”
“I understand that you are collating the histories of those in our brotherhood, I have come to relate to you my story”
“Excellent, your story will be added to the annals of Northbound. Only by understanding our past will our future be foretold.”
Gauan reaches across to pick up the quill, as the mercenary pulls up a stool to sit opposite the priest.
“Please, brother begin your story……….”. |
